Day Thirteen

We didn't get out of the house yesterday, we're so boring. I woke up this morning and colored my hair. My mom might be mad, but I tweaked the color again. I went a little darker and redder, not too much though, still the same tubes of color.
Easy outfit for an Estate sale, Lowes and lunch with Kellen. The estate sale was on our way to Lowes, so I convinced Kellen to stop. We bought two books (Sewing Made Easy and The Money Man) and a Hofbraus mug made in Germany. Kellen was excited I found it! I told him to talk the people down to $15 for everything, most of the steins were marked $15. We were very surprised when they said $7 for all of it! Books were $1 each. We thought about going back and looking for more, but it was starting to rain. Sewing Made Easy is a book of vintage sewing instructions!
My white t-shirt was in the dirty clothes, so I didn't have anything to wear under this cardigan. How scandalous.
What I wore:
Cream cardigan - Ann Taylor
Jeans - Buffalo from Macys
Chrome heeled boots - Nine West

Days Eleven and Twelve

Finally Friday! Seems like this week took forever to finish! I don't get to wear jeans on Friday at work, so normally I try and dress a little more casual than the rest of the week. I made this plaid skirt out of wool from my mom. I just cut out a waist band 4" wide the length of my waist, then doubled that for the skirt. I made the pleats as I went and made the zipper on the side. All the pencil skirts I've been making have the zipper at the side. I think it makes for a cleaner look from the front and the back.
I'm not going to be able to wear tights and boots for much longer. Today the high was 51 degrees, so I'm still good but tomorrow it's supposed to be 73! At least 2 more weeks of 30 for 30, hopefully the weather will stay springy!
Friday night I had bunko. I needed to dress even more casual for that, but didn't feel like changing into jeans.
I added the orange belt for some color.

What I wore:
11 -
Plaid skirt - made by me
Black tank - Forever 21
Black short sleeve cardigan - Macys
Black boots - Macys

12 -
Switch out the black for white
White t-shirt - Ann Taylor
Orange belt - Thrifted $1

Day Ten

Today was the hottest day this week, so I had to wear something with short sleeves. I made this dress last summer with a pattern I love. It is Simplicity Amazing fit princess seamed shift dress. It was pretty easy to make and definitely way easier to fit with a dress-form.
Hopefully my hair looked better than this all day at work. I need to color my hair this weekend, so I had to wear it pulled back or a headband all week. I switched from my lavender pumps to blue suede at lunch. The lavender pumps were killing me, I guess I can't do two days in a row of the same shoes anymore...
What I wore:
Turquoise dress - made by me
Blue suede pumps - Macys
Pink necklace - gift from Rach from London

Day Nine

Pink and purple day. I made this skirt from this inspiration picture:
I love the scalloped top edge, so I added it to a pencil skirt.

I'm loving these pencil skirts. They are easy to make and look great! I made this one a little too flared at the bottom, but I still like it.
What I wore:
White ruffled top
Pink cardigan
Purple pencil skirt
Lavender pumps

Day Eight

I wanted to dress up a little more than usual today, had to train directors on a new procedure this morning. So blazer it is!
Added a little fun with turquoise and orange accessories.
What I wore:
Black shift dress
Vintage tweed blazer
Black DKNYC boots
Turquoise necklace
Orange belt

Valences

We finally had a minute (or weren't lazy enough last night) to hang the valences I made!

Our windows are humongous so I had to widen and lengthen the pattern.
Looks a little crazy and it was. Luckily the pattern didn't rip on the first curtain I cut out, then I could use the first curtain as a pattern for the rest. 3 big windows with 3 reversible valances, ugh. I was very nervous sewing the whole thing, it was huge! I think it turned out great though. Here's an empty window. Kellen is hanging the last curtain rod. I almost didn't get a before shot!
 Here's the curtains.
 A little closer.
Don't you love the fabric? I love mixing patterns. I think we'll keep the striped side out for spring/summer and then switch to the darker paisley for fall and winter.
They are exactly what we needed. They add some interest in the hearth room and block out the sun when it is glaring in when we come home for lunch. Perfect!

Day Seven

2nd hottest day this week. I thought I would look a little springy.
This is another skirt I made. I LOVE this color. Here's the inspiration photo:

Not exactly the same but kinda close. The curves look a little wrinkled at the end of the day.

What I wore:
Turquoise and white top - Not the Limited but the other store like that, can't think of it's name right now
Coral skirt - I made!
Off-white cardigan - Ann Taylor
Lavender pumps - Macys

Day Six

I didn't know if I was going to get dressed today, but I did! Kellen and I worked around the house all day today so were too tired to make dinner. We went to Texas Roadhouse and actually had a good dinner for cheap! It seems the Roadhouse near us has redone their management structure so everything was different. It was nice to go out and not spend a fortune on decent food.
Comfy outfit:
Jeans
Black chrome heeled boots - Nine West
Flannel shirt - Target
Pink cardigan - Ann Taylor outlet

Day Five

Finally Friday! This work week seemed to last forever! This pencil skirt I made. It is the 2nd plain one with the new measurement system. Looks pretty cute.
These pictures were after happy hour with both Kellen and I's colleagues. I made Kellen take the pictures before we hurried and changed to head out to a bonfire!
Turquoise top - Ann Taylor
Wool skirt
Black DKNYC boots
Polka dot socks!

Day Four

On Day Four I tried to get a little more creative. I think as the challenge goes on, I will have to get more creative. Another thing about this challenge is you are not supposed to repeat outfits! Hopefully I can make it through 30 days!
It was a little windy on Thursday.
 What I wore:
Plaid dress - Kenzie
Dark grey cardigan - vintage Ann taylor
Black cincher belt
Blue suede shoes
