Last weekend and this weekend I finally got around to sewing some maternity clothes that I have had the fabric for for awhile.
First I made a pair of black pants. (Sorry no picture) They are just plain black, made out of a comfy suiting material. Instead of the ribbing the pattern recommended for the top maternity section, I just used some left over black jersey I had from a wrap top I made before.
Next I had found some pink polka dot stretch fabric (it's actually swimsuit material!) on sale at Hancock Fabrics. My mom got me a maternity pattern for shirt, so I thought I'd give it a try.
It was pretty easy to make. I love sewing knits now that I have a serger. I need to start off making tops a smaller size. I always think I'm bigger than I am. I guess that'd better than the other way around. You can always take something in but usually can't let it out!
And yesterday I just finished bamboo pjs! I bought bamboo knit online. It's super comfy and bamboo only gets softer as you wash it. I wanted the top to be sort of like a wrap top, so I used the top part of that pattern and just made a rectangle bottom with some gathers for my baby bump.
For the pants, I used a pair of maternity pj pants my mom got me as a pattern! I love the pajamas! I think they will get a ton of wear this winter and even after I have the baby!
That's all the sewing for now. I'm in the process of making a cape because none of my winter coats will button over my bump anymore! Hopefully it'll be finished and I can post again later this week.
